Experts Advising People to Get Air Conditioners Checked Before the Heat

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-Cities hot weather is approaching as we enter the heart of spring, and experts say now may be the best time to check up on your air conditioning systems.

Once the hot weather moves in, many people find their AC is not working after being off for the winter season.

Local cooling companies get back logged with work when the first heat wave hits and it can cause a week long wait for service and cost more than usual.

"People want their air conditioning. They can do without heating. They can put on a coat or whatever but when it's 100 degrees here in the Tri-Cities and you walk into an 80 degree house, panic sets in and the phones start ringing," said Mitch Ratchford with Apollo Hearing & Air.

Ratchford says Now is the time to find out if your AC is working, not when there is a long wait for service.

Some air conditioning companies are even offering spring maintenance specials to check up on AC units to help with the annual back log.
