LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Local fighter Miesha Tate will soon enter the octagon for the first time professionally. Tate trained in Yakima to help develop her mixed martial arts, and Saturday the UFC will feature her fight with Cat Zingano in The Ultimate Fighter 17 finale. During Tate's college days at Central Washington University she and other fighters spent time traveling to Yakima MMA to train.
"We'd drive up there. We'd spend time and we'd all drive up. We'd all train. We'd all drive back. So it was my very first home gym. They're like family to me. Rich and Julie Guerin. They're the gym owners, great people. I've traveled around a bunch of different gyms and came back to Yakima MMA for a couple of my last training camps because they're awesome people," Tate said.
