WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State's Scott Simon was named the Pac-12 Conference Pitcher of the Week for April 1-7, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced, Monday.

A native of Spokane, Wash., Simon struck out a career-high seven and limited Utah to five hits, Sunday in tossing the first shutout by a Washington State pitcher since 1999. The Cougars defeated the Utes 5-0.

Simon allowed just one runner to reach third base and threw 77 of 116 pitches for strikes. The Cougar right-hander is 3-0 with a 3.27 ERA this season. It is the first-career Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honor for Simon and the 33rd all-time for Washington State.
