Columbia Basin Racquet Club Building Water Playground

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - Private developers are still showing no signs of construction on water parks in the Tri-Cities, and the issue of a public facility still hasn't made it to voters.

But another local health club is putting in a water playground.

Pelican Bay Water Play is under construction at Columbia Basin Racquet Club in Richland.

It will feature a lazy river, zero depth entry pool, water cannons and other toys and spray features.

General Manager Randy Willis said, "Water sports is probably the number one, two or three most popular activity for the public in the country, swimming and swimming related things. So water and sun goes great, we've got a lot of sun here, we have terrific summers."

Willis said they hope to have the water playground open around the first of June.
