Kennewick Police Want People to Watch for Criminal Solicitors
KENNEWICK, Wash. - As the weather gets warmer, door to door solicitors will be out trolling the neighborhoods and Kennewick police say be careful who you let in.
Officers say all sales people in Benton County should be carrying a license.
"Somebody that's coming into your home or your business and is going to be making decisions or working with you, making decisions on the security of your home, really shouldn't be a criminal," said Mike Blatman with the Kennewick Police Department.
Blatman says they have caught criminals and sex offenders attempting to sell security systems door to door. He says requiring them to have a license lets people know they have had a background check.
However, Blatman says non-profit organizations are not required to have a soliciting license.
