Yakima 4th Graders Celebrate Arbor Day By Planting Trees

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- To celebrate Arbor Day, some Yakima fourth graders planted trees Thursday at Kiwanis Park.

The students are from St. Joseph Marquette School.

With help from city workers, Pacific Power, and the Yakima Area Arboretum, the kids planted 11 trees throughout the park.

"It's really fun because you're doing something for the community and it makes this place beautiful," said Margaret O'Connor.

"I like it because I like nature and animals too," Christian Pulido said.

"It's pretty fun and I hope all the trees grow," said Caleb Enright.

The trees were donated by the Yakima Arboretum and Pacific Power.
