Tri-Cities PFD Presented Design Options for Proposed Aquatic Center

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- It's a key component of any aquatics center, and now its one of the last things to be decided for the proposed Tri-Cities Aquatics Center - the pool.

During Wednesday meeting, Water Technology Inc. presented three top designs to the Tri-Cities Regional Public Facilities District Board and the public.

Each water park design had a different sized pool and price tag. The over two hour meeting also included plenty of questions and discussion.

"This has been a great process to be able to look at the options and look at what the community will support. There's been a lot of people who have come to the meetings and who have given a lot of their time and effort so it's a good thing for the community," said Douglass Whiteaker of Water Technology Inc.

Board Member Don Britian says they will mostly likely choose the smallest of the three pools, at 25 meters.

He says that's the option that makes the most financial sense for the project.

A final decision will be made at next month's meeting.
