Yakima County Re-landscaping Area Around Courthouse

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The area around the Yakima County Courthouse will see some major improvements this summer.

The Yakima County Commissioners have approved plans to re-landscape the sidewalks around the courthouse.

The county says the sidewalks were already in need of repair.

They'll also update the look of the area with planters and streetlights to match the downtown Yakima design.

The project will cost more than $600,000.

"I feel good about what it's going to look like aesthetically, and good about the safety improvements that are going to be," said Yakima County Public Services Director Vern Redifer.

The city will also kick in some money for the improvements to sidewalks along 1st Street and A Street.

The county expects construction to start in May and finish by July.
