Local Vet Takes Her Business on the Road

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A local veterinarian with decades of experience has branched out on her own. But not in the traditional sense. Dr. Menks decided to take her pet care business on the road.

Lots of local veterinarians will do house calls for larger animals like horses or cattle. What makes Dr. Menks' Mobile Vet Care unique is that they'll come to your house, in the Tri-Cities and beyond, for any pet.

The 27-foot clinic on wheels is fully equipped with everything in a typical vet's office, from x-ray machines to a surgical table.

One thing is obvious, though: Dr. Menks' obvious love for her job, the animals and their humans.

"It's really convenient and they respond, they really care about what they're doing and so I like the care," said client Tamara Marlin.

"We have a more personable relationship with our clients because even though we have a fairly large clientele at this point, I know a lot of them by names," said Dr. Menks.

Dr. Menks said the majority of her clients have small pets and the most common calls they respond to are for feisty cats or large dogs that just can't seem to get up.

The clinic also parks a few times a week in Pasco, Kennewick and Richland so pet owners can stop by there, too.
