Deployed Soldier Gets Surprise Welcome Home

KENNEWICK, Wash.-  A U.S. soldier home on R&R gets a surprise welcome.

Special First Class Michelle Shaw from Prosser is stationed in the northern part of Afghanistan and returned home last week.

Shaw will turn around and head back in the next day or two.

But Thursday night, family and friends welcomed her home for the time being at the Old Country Buffet.

"I was really surprised. I wasn't expecting it. It was just so awesome to be greeted by so many people. Not only that, but be greeted by everybody in the restaurant. It was great," said Shaw.

Shaw has served in the army for 37 years and she says it will be a few more years before she retires.
