Wastewater Line Project to Close Sections of 16th Avenue in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- An ongoing wastewater line installation project will cause temporary road closures along 16th Avenue and J Street next week in Yakima.

The closure will last from Sunday, April 14th through Friday, April 19th.

A section of 16th Avenue between Fruitvale Boulevard and River Road will be closed each night next week from 7PM until 6AM.

During the day, one lane in each direction of 16th Avenue will be open to traffic. Drivers will be directed through the construction zone.

Traffic on J Street will also be impacted during the week. Between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue,
J Street will only be open to local traffic. The entrance to the DSHS office from J Street will be
closed at times. Access to the DSHS building from 16th Avenue will be provided throughout the

Crews from TTC Construction, a Yakima-based contracting firm, have been working to install
the 12-inch diameter line since earlier this year.

The latest phase of the project will include a deep trench operation for the installation of the pipeline crossing 16th Avenue south of Madison Avenue.
