SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. - One woman is confirmed dead and one still missing following a pair of Saturday spring avalanches in the Cascade Mountains.
King County officials said the woman was killed in the avalanche on Red Mountain early Saturday.
The missing snowshoer was in a group of three that were swept more than 1,200 feet down Granite Mountain in the second avalanche. Two men emerged safely. The search for the third, a 60-year-old man from Kent, Washington, was suspended Sunday indefinitely because of the poor weather conditions.
