Port Commissioners Ready to Vote on Vista Field Future

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -The Port of Kennewick appears ready to decide the future of Vista Field.

The commissioners hold a meeting Wednesday evening to hear public comments, and then, Larry Peterson, director of planning development for the port, says he expects the commissioners will take a vote.

"It's more than a tip of their hand. The commissioners will hear public input and possibly, most likely take a vote on what the airport should be," Peterson says.

The three commissioners are mulling over three options: close the airport and sell the 100 acres to business developers, expand the airport and tie it to tourism in the Mid Columbia, or leave everything just like it is.

The commissioners haven't said which of the three options sounds best to them.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Tri-Cities Business and Visitor Center, 7130 W. Grandridge Boulevard in Kennewick.
