Yakima County Sheriff's Office Looking for Armed Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man accused of armed robbery Monday morning.

Deputies were called the Terrace Heights Subway restaurant around 6:40 AM Monday. Deputies were immediately in the area, but no suspect could be found.

Deputies say a female clerk told them she was preparing to open for the day, when she heard a knock on the back door. She answered it, thinking it was an early morning delivery.

She was confronted by a man who was armed with a knife and demanded she open the safe and give him money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of a cash.

The suspect is described as a white man with blue/green eyes. He is about 5'9'' and 170 pounds. He was dressed in gray sweat pants, black shoes and a gray hooded sweatshirt and a cap, with the hood covering his face. The clerk described him as speaking with a stutter.

If anyone has information on the armed robbery or the suspect, please contact the Yakima County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers.
