Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.-- Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a Kennewick insurance agent and four local potato farmers accused of defrauding the federal government to the tune of almost $10-million.

Federal prosecutors say insurance agent Fred Ackerman and the growers created false revenue losses to cheat the government.

The trial at the federal courthouse in Richland is expected to last a few weeks.
