Hermiston Police Arrest Three for Possessing Pot Around Kids

HERMISTON, Ore. - Three people from Hermiston are in the Umatilla County Jail after police say they found the trio in possession of pot in a hotel room with four small children inside.

Hermiston Police say around 5:30 Monday night, officers smelled marijuana coming from a room at the Sunset Motel on North 1st Street.  They obtained a search warrant and went into the room, where police found the four children, ages newborn to 6-years-old.

Police arrested 24-year-old Tarra Johnson for frequenting a place where controlled substances are used, endangering the welfare of minor, and possession of less than ounce of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school. Officers arrested a local transient, 21-year-old Adam G. Saad and 51-year-old Rodney Virgil on the same charges. Police also charged Virgil with possession of methamphetamine. 

The Department of Human Services has stepped in to take the four young children into protective custody.
