Wife Of Ex-Judge Charged With 3 Counts Of Murder: She Was Getaway Driver In Slayings Of Texas Prosecutors

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:

KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) - Authorities say the wife of a former justice of the peace was the driver of the vehicle used in the killing of a North Texas assistant prosecutor. They say she was a passenger when her husband allegedly later shot a district attorney and his wife.

An arrest affidavit shows Kim Williams implicated husband, Eric Williams, as the shooter of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse in January and also District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia last month.

Authorities on Thursday said Kim Williams was the getaway driver when her husband allegedly approached Hasse as he walked into work and fatally shot him. They contend she was a passenger in late March when her husband drove to the McLelland home in the Dallas suburb of Forney.

UPDATE:

KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) - Authorities have announced that the wife of a former judge is being charged with murder for the slayings of a North Texas district attorney, his wife and an assistant prosecutor.

Kim Lene Williams was arrested early Wednesday. Kaufman County sheriff's spokesman Lt. Justin Lewis said Williams is being charged with all three deaths and being held on $10 million bond.

Her arrest is the latest twist in an investigation that has also focused on her husband, who was prosecuted for theft by Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and one of his prosecutors, Mark Hasse.

McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were found dead March 30, two months after Hasse was slain outside the local courthouse.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) - North Texas authorities have arrested the wife of a former justice of the peace who was charged with making a terrorist threat in connection with the killings of a district attorney and his wife.

Kim Lene Williams was arrested early Wednesday. Online jail records do not list charges against her. Officials in Kaufman County wouldn't immediately comment on the reason for her arrest.

A law enforcement official has said authorities are trying to build a case against her husband, Eric Williams, in the deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, who were found slain March 30.

A probable cause affidavit says Eric Williams sent an email days after the McLellands' deaths implying there would be another attack if authorities didn't respond to various demands.
