REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - Police in the Seattle suburb of Redmond say they've arrested a 65-year-old woman accused of stealing more than $67,000 from her elderly parents and depriving them of proper food, medication and care.

Police allege the daughter strapped her mother into her bed for as long as 12 hours a day and also strapped her into a wheelchair. Both parents suffer from dementia and the daughter had power of attorney for them.

Lt. Charlie Gorman says the daughter was taking more than $3,000 a month to care for the pair.  She was arrested Tuesday for investigation of unlawful imprisonment and first-degree theft and then released. She was not identified.

King County prosecutor's spokesman Dan Donohoe tells The Seattle Times the case has not yet been turned over to prosecutors for a charging decision.

Gorman says the 89-year-old mother and 92-year-old father are now at an adult family care home.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It took a jury only a little more than two hours on Wednesday to find Daniel Arteaga guilty for the murder of Kim Schmidt. The prosecution said Arteaga was very jealous that his relationship was ending with Schmidt and she was moving on. They say that's part of the reason why he decided to kill her at the beginning of 2012. The defense disagreed saying that Arteaga was not there when she died and they think she may have even died of suicideMore >>
