Online Mapping Database Shows Crime Locations in Richland

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - Local police say they're constantly getting phone calls asking 'how safe is my neighborhood,' or 'what happened down the street?'

The Richland Police Department now has a website, www.raidsonline.com, where you can find those answers yourself. Crimes are pin mapped throughout the city and it's updated about every four hours.

"Our ability to communicate with members of our community is an essential aspect to both preventing crime and apprehending criminals who commit those crimes. So if we can allow the 50,000 residents of the city of Richland to be more informed and participate in the process and partner with us more, we're going to be much more effective in our jobs," said Captain Mike Cobb.

You can also set up the website to get updates if something happens within a certain area. The technology could be available soon for Pasco and Kennewick.
