Man Dies After Chase, Crash, Arrest In Idaho

Posted: Updated:

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - A law enforcement task force is investigating the death of a 33-year-old man after his arrest in Nampa.

Nampa police who were responding to a report of a woman screaming at about 3 a.m. Friday spotted a pickup being driven recklessly and without any headlights. Officers tried to stop the driver, who lost control, crashed the truck and then ran away. He was found hiding under a trailer.

A police statement says the man resisted arrest, but eventually was taken into custody. He stopped breathing a short time later.

Paramedics who responded to the initial report treated the man and took him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The man's name hasn't been released.

The Canyon County sheriff's office is leading the Critical Incident Task Force investigation.
