BERKELEY, Calif. – Mike Reuvekamp's RBI-single capped a two-run bottom of the ninth as California rallied past Washington State 2-1 in Pac-12 Conference baseball at Evans Diamond, Sunday.

With the victory, the Golden Bears (18-21, 7-11 Pac-12) took the rubber match-up in the three-game weekend series with the Cougars (19-18, 6-9 Pac-12).

Trailing 1-0 entering the home half of the ninth, the Golden Bears put runners at first and second with a walk, sacrifice bunt and infield hit. Mitchell Kranson followed with a run-scoring single against Cougar reliever Kellen Camus (3-2) to tie the game and set the stage for Reuvekamp.

Washington State had a runner on in eight of nine innings, but managed a lone run in the fifth. Collin Slaybaugh singled with two outs, moved to second a wild pitch, and scored on Jason Monda's second of three hits in the game.

Cougar starter Scott Simon made the 1-0 lead stand up threw seven innings as he limited California to five hits, did not walk a man, and struck out five.

Logan Scott (3-1), the third of three hurlers for the Golden Bears, blanked the Cougars in the ninth and picked up the win.

The Cougars open a six-game homestand when UCLA visits Bailey-Brayton Field, Friday at 6 p.m.
