KENNEWICK, Wash.- For the past two days real estate brokers have taken part in a nationwide open house. Local agents have been active in the event.
This weekend people could tour about 200 open homes in the Tri-Cities. By taking part in such a large-scale initiative the regional real estate companies are trying to grab the attention of first time home buyers as well as families who have been waiting for the market to improve.
"Definitely having events like this is very positive." said Tavia Morse of Century 21 Tri-Cities. "I think it brings people out and I think it does help the economy, just to get everyone moving and grooving and thinking 'Let's sell my home!' or 'What can we buy?' 'What's out there?'"
The event originated right here in Washington in 2009 and since then has spread to nearly every state.
