PASCO, Wash. -One of the most recognizable buildings in the Tri-Cities came crashing down Monday.
A bulldozer moved in on the Chevrolet Dome at the Pasco Autoplex.
The dome was built in 1977, and Bill McCurley purchased the dealership in 1981. McCurley sat behind the wheel of the bulldozer and took the first hits at the structure. He then stood by and watched the dome reduced to a pile of dust and debris.
"This is a piece of the dome," McCurley said, holding up a foot-long chunk of the skylight. "We're taking home souvenirs, take some pictures, something to remember it by."
McCurley plans to have a new showroom built before the end of the year.
