KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick police say they have caught the thief suspected of carrying out a string of burglaries at small businesses in Kennewick.
When the Gledhill Dental Office was broken into Monday night, it helped lead police to the man they believe is behind this string of crimes, Vance Jourdan.
Kennewick police say they have responded to more than 40 commercial burglaries this year, many of them along Clearwater Avenue.
Officers say many of the break-ins happened at dental offices where the thief smashed glass to enter and then stole a cash box. Pasco police have also investigated more than 30 burglaries this year. They partnered with KPD to zero in on a suspect.
NBC Right Now talked with Dr. Gledhill who says he heard about the dentist burglaries and knew he had been hit when his alarms went off.
"I was speaking with other dentists regarding their break-ins. As soon as I got a call from my security company telling me that a motion sensor had been detected and if I wanted to dispatch the police, I knew I had been broken into," said Dr. Lance Gledhill.
Kennewick police contacted Pasco police after Monday night's break-in and Pasco police spotted Jourdan's car by the Cable Bridge. Officers pulled him over and Jourdan tried to run away. But officers tased him and took him to jail.
Both departments say they believe Jourdan is behind most of the commercial burglaries since January.
