Tyson Beefs Up Second Harvest New Warehouse

PASCO, Wash. -Tyson Foods in Wallula Thursday handed over a check to Second Harvest for $25,000.

"This donation is from the Tyson Foundation at headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas," says Brad Shafer, complex manager at the Wallula plant. "Tyson is active in supporting agencies of this type all over the United States."

The money will go toward paying-off Second Harvest's new warehouse in Pasco. Cassie Hurley, development director, says Second harvest still needs to raise nearly $600,000 to pay off the 14,000 square foot warehouse, which opened in September.

"What we've been able to achieve by building this new facility is distribute more food to hungry families in our community."

The new warehouse includes 4,000 square feet of freezer and cooler space, allowing Second Harvest to accept more fresh produce and distribute it daily.
