National Prescription Drug Take Back Day This Saturday

Posted: Updated:

NBCRightNow.com -  National Prescription Drug take back day is Saturday, April 27th.

Time to get rid of those unwanted prescription drugs just laying around with no questions asked. It is part of the ongoing DEA Drug Take Back Program that is happening across the country. People can stop by the nearest location and drop off their unwanted drugs.

The DEA says the program helps reduce the risk of people abusing prescription drugs and disposes of them in a safe, environmentally-friendly way.

"So it is important people get rid of these narcotics and prescription drugs that are laying around because it makes them vulnerable to burglaries and it may be other family members that are involved. We just need to get them destroyed so they're not going to put anybody at risk," said Mike Blatman with the Kennewick Police Department.

You can visit the Kennewick, Richland, West Richland, Pasco, and Walla Walla police stations between 10 a.m and 2 p.m. Saturday. In Yakima the drop-off is located at the Solarity Credit Union on Tieton Drive as well as the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office. The Umatilla County Sheriff's Office will also have a drop-off location.
