Sports Medicine Convention Comes To Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash.- The Washington Career and Technical Sports Medicine Association (WCTSMA) is setting up camp here in Kennewick this weekend.

They're holding their annual competition and symposium at the Convention Center. For the past 19 years high school students have lead most of the activities. Today, local emergency response personnel pitched in and showed students how to perform CPR. 41 schools from all over the west coast participated in activities and lectures that promote sports medicine education.

"Every single kid will leave here and they will want to figure out how to improve their knowledge and how to do better and to represent themselves and their school better," said Gary Clinton, President of WCTSMA.

This year's event will bring in an estimated $350,000 locally according to the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau. The association leaders say they've really enjoyed visiting the Tri-Cities and they hope to return.
