Running In Richland For Cancer Center Foundation

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.- People run along the Columbia River in Richland almost everyday, but Saturday they ran for a cause. This was the 4th annual "Run for Ribbons" held by the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation.

The event aims to raise awareness and promote prevention for all forms of cancer. In addition to the running and walking, different booths were setup to teach cancer prevention. There was even a giant blow-up colon people could walk through to search for polyps.

"As we continue to create awareness in the community, more and more people are coming out in support of it and learning about how they can protect themselves through diet and exercise, participating in a run like this and something as simple as wearing sunscreen and not smoking," said Michael Novakovich.

Run for Ribbons is expected to raise about $50,000. Members of our NBC Right Now team ran in the event.
