Wash. Senate Approves Tax Break For Disabled Vets

Posted: Updated:

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Washington lawmakers have approved a tax exemption for disabled veterans who need vehicle modifications.

The state Senate voted unanimously on Sunday to establish the tax benefit on the installation and repair equipment that would help a person enter, exit or operate a vehicle. Only disabled veterans would qualify for the tax break.

The measure is projected to cost the state some $62,000 in tax revenue over the next two years. The bill now goes to the governor for his signature.
