Track 29 Tenants' Leases Terminated

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Tenants at the Track 29 Mall in downtown Yakima say the property's trustee has terminated their long-term leases.

It's the latest in a string of changes at the mall.

The previous owner of the property went bankrupt, and the mall's trustee has filed to remove some train cars to make room for a parking lot.

Many tenants are worried the entire mall will be demolished, but they say they're not going anywhere.

"Our thought is that we're gonna fight. We're just gearing up to fight, it's a brawl now, so we're gonna do everything we can to save this place," said Track 29 Tenant Tony Sandoval.

The trustee has not returned our phone calls but did send a letter to tenants saying that Track 29 is not currently financially feasible.

However, several business owners tell us there are also a number of buyers interested in the mall.
