Cinco de Mayo Returns To Pasco

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.- After a one year hiatus the Cinco de Mayo celebration in downtown Pasco is back and promises to be better than ever.

Last year, organizers had to cancel the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration because of a lack of volunteers. But with a new Downtown Development Authority putting their weight behind the project, they say this year will be action packed. This will be the 22nd Cinco de Mayo celebration in downtown Pasco. This Saturday hundreds of people will line the streets of downtown to watch the parade, purchase food from local vendors and enjoy live music from local bands. It's set up to be a day the entire family can enjoy.

"I think it's really an opportunity to celebrate who we are as a community; our heritage whether it's Latino or Mexican," said Amy Kuchler, the Executive Director of Downtown Pasco Development Authority. "It's really an opportunity regardless of ethnicity to just celebrate who we are and all have a great time."

Saturday is also the opening day of the Farmers Market in Pasco. The proceeds from the Cinco de Mayo celebration will all stay local and go toward the revitalization of the downtown area.
