PORTLAND, Ore. (Apr. 30) -- Central Washington University junior second baseman Jill McDaniels (Walla Walla, Wash.) and freshman right fielder Remy Bradley (Richland, Wash./Hanford HS) have both been selected to the 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball all-conference first team. In addition, McDaniels and Bradley were voted as the conference's Newcomer and Freshman of the Year, respectively.

McDaniels finished the regular season with a .340 batting average, starting all 37 games at second base. Her 10 home runs currently lead the GNAC, while she also has a team-best 42 runs batted in. McDaniels' RBI total, which includes a pair of seven-RBI games earlier this season, currently rank fourth in the conference.

Bradley is the team's leading hitter with a .391 batting average. The left-handed hitter is tied for the team lead with 11 multiple-hit games and will take a season-best 12-game hitting streak into the GNAC Tournament this Thursday (May 2).

A total of eight CWU players earned all-conference honors, with three players earning second-team accolades and three others being chosen for the honorable mention squad.

Second-team all-GNAC selections were junior pitcher Maria Gau (Woodinville, Wash.), freshman shortstop Andrea Hamada (Walla Walla, Wash.) and freshman center fielder Michaela Hazlett (Purcell, Okla.).

Gau currently owns the top earned-run average in the GNAC at 2.13 and is among the league's strikeout leaders with 95. The right-hander has posted three shutouts among her 17 complete games this season.

Hamada is one of three players to have started all 37 games this season, batting .318 with one home run and 20 runs batted in.

Hazlett is batting .321, primarily hitting second in the Wildcats' lineup. She leads the team with 10 stolen bases and has driven in 14 runs.

Earning honorable mention honors were senior catchers Cassi Ellis (East Wenatchee, Wash./Eastmont HS) and Elena Carter (Olympia, Wash./Black Hills HS), and junior first baseman Maikala Galusha (Battle Ground, Wash.).

CWU, 19-18 overall, will open the inaugural GNAC Tournament in Billings, Mont., on Thursday against Saint Martin's University beginning at 2:30 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time (1:30 p.m. Pacific).
