RICHLAND, Wash.-- Getting braces at a local orthodontist office will do more than just straighten your teeth. You can also help raise money for local schools.
Ostler Orthodontics is giving back to the community in a big way.
Dr. Scott Ostler started his Partners in Education program three years ago.
The office donates $100 to every new patient's school or a school of their choice.
Since Dr. Ostler started the program in 2010, their office has donated more than $120,000 to Tri-cities Schools.
Dr. Ostler says they donate to give back to their patients and the community.
He hopes it will encourage other businesses to do the same.
"Businesses and corporations need to step up and start helping out these schools. Hopefully this is going to be a start of maybe other businesses being aware that these schools need some help," Dr. Ostler said.
The donations go to the school's PTA and then they decide how to spend the money.
Dr. Ostler says one school recently bought archery equipment for a school club.
This year, Ostler Orthodontics has raised $20,000 so far.
