Oregon Bill Aims to Change Election Ballot Language

Posted: Updated:

SALEM, Oregon -- Lawmakers in Oregon are considering a bill that would print election ballots in languages other than English.

House Bill 3506 would require the state to provide voting materials in other languages in counties where either 5 percent of the population or 10,000 people speak their native language. Twelve counties would be affected by the bill.

Some state officials say the bill would help voters who have trouble reading or understanding English.
