RICHLAND, Wash. - The Richland and Kennewick Stakes of the Mormon Church are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their pipe organ this weekend.

Dr. Linda Margetts will lead an organ workshop at the church this weekend. She is one of five organists with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City.

Margetts says the history of the organ dates back more than one-thousand years.

the organ is the oldest keyboard instrument in the world.  It pre-dates the harpsichord and the piano.  It was the first one, and by the year 1000, it was pretty much set-up like it is today," she said.

Margetts says she started playing when she was just eleven years old.

To attend Saturday's free workshop, it goes from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 1720 Thayer Drive in Richland.
