Kennewick Support Groups Climb To Prevent Youth Suicide

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Saturday the local Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays or PFLAG group partnered with Youth Suicide Prevention took on Badger Mountain as part of "the climb".

The hike was set up to raise awareness of how bullying can drive people to commit suicide regardless of sexual orientation.

The two organizations hope to let bullied youth know that there is a place for them to go if they're unhappy or scared.

"The climb represents the climb that all of us have to get through in life. We want people to know that others care and that we're here to support them," said Kristi Haynes of the Youth Suicide Prevention Program.
