WHITE SWAN, Wash. - Yakima County Firefighters are trying to figure out what started a house fire in White Swan Sunday night.

Firefighters say the first started just before 5 o'clock on Sunday. When firefighters arrived at the home on the 300 block of Wildwood, they found the attic up in flames.

Firefighters say at the five family members in the home when the fire started got out ok, but they didn't have insurance. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after about an hour, but they say the home was a total loss.

At one point, one person living in the home and a neighbor tried to put out the fire with an extinguisher and a garden hose, with no luck.

Firefighters say the fire may have started in a bedroom, and gone undetected for a while. The family at the home had a number of pets, and while they found their dog alive, they haven't found their cats.

The displaced family is now staying with family members, and the Red Cross has stepped in to help them with belongings.
