Council Considering Funding for Road Repairs Tomorrow Night

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima's City Council will vote tomorrow night on funding for the city's massive road repair project.

The proposed plans would repave nearly 28 miles of roadways around the city at a cost of five million dollars.

The city plans to finance the project through bank loans rather than bonds.

Council Member Maureen Adkinson told us fixing the roads is one of her major concerns.

"40th is the worst, it's so rutted that when I drive down to go to the grocery store my car actually gets pulled to the left. I'm heading down the hill," Adkinson said.

Adkinson says the proposal is likely to pass especially because the five million dollar amount is already included in this year's budget.

Tomorrow's city council meeting starts at six pm at city hall.
