Wapato Police Address Gang House, Home to Three Deaths in Five Years

Posted: Updated:

WAPATO, Wash. - Wapato Police say they're hoping to do something about a home commonly involved in gang violence where three people have died in the last five years.

Earlier this week, police say 19-year-old Abel Velazquez died in a shooting at the home on the 4500 block of North Track Road where a 17-year-old and 26-year-old man were also injured.

Officers say there were fatal shootings at or near the home in 2008 and 2010.

The Wapato Police Chief calls the block a "hot spot" and says police will see if they can use a nuisance ordinance to address the problems.

The Wapato Mayor says the city will look at how other cities have addressed similar situations.
