YAKIMA, Wash.-- A speed bump for construction crews at Franklin Park.
City officials say it's going to cost them about $113,000 more to fix Franklin's parking lot. Originally, the city estimated a $150,000 price-tag.
Officials say it won't slow the project down though. They say a big portion of the Franklin Park construction is supported by volunteers, so everything will still get done.
"Volunteers, our service clubs, Rotary... Fantastic. I mean they're just so great to have. We couldn't do these projects without the support of our service clubs, especially Rotary," said Ken Wilkinson, parks and recreation manager.
Wilkinson says there's enough money in the original funding source to be able to pay for the increased costs. The over $260,000 is coming out of the city's real estate excise tax fund.
