CWU Gets A Visit from Washington's Secretary of State

Posted: Updated:

ELLENSBURG, Wash.--A special visit and a special honor for students at Central Washington University this week.

Washington's Secretary of State Kim Wyman congratulated the school for being one of only four campuses in the state to receive a 2013 College Civics Micro-Grant.

Wyman said students at CWU seem to be very involved in their local community and government.

"In fact, the students I just spoke with I asked how many of them were full time students, were working and were volunteering and the whole room raised their hands," said Wyman. "That's what they need to do because it's going to give them not only job skills, it's going to give them life skills."

The $500 grant will help expand the University's On-Campus Voter Assistance Program.
