Jr. Achievements High-Tech Business Challenge in Kennewick

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Future CEO's and business gurus gathered Tuesday in Kennewick for the Junior Achievements High-Tech Business Challenge at the Three Rivers Convention Center.

High schoolers from around the Tri-Cities area competed in a business simulation game. They worked as teams to manufacture a fake product to sell to fake consumers. Their work was put to the test in a computer program that estimated their success in sales.

The team with the best sale results won the challenge.

"They get to learn teamwork, they also get to learn how to make business decisions as a team. We tell them that the president is not a dictator, he gets input from his team and then makes final decisions, so they get to work as a team when they're doing this as well," said Jr. Achievement Volunteer Consultant, Brad Hasty.

While the challenge was mostly meant to be fun and educational, each member of the winning team went home with a $200 gift card and a trophy.
