A furious rally during the final few minutes of boy's soccer regional play saw University High School escape with a 3-2 win over Kamiakan High School. University advances to play Hanford on Thursday, while Kamiakan's season is done.
The Titans opened a 3-1 lead with just over eleven minutes to play, but less than a minute later the Braves answered on a strike by Adam Sherman.
The remainder of the game turned into strings of tension-filled defensive sets as Kamiakan scrambled to net the equalizer.
"I think it's just guys get a little bit more sense of anxiety, panic," U-Hi coach Scott Kerwien said. "So the clearances aren't as good, they're yelling at each other to clear the ball and so things get a little crazy. I would have liked them to be a little bit more calm in their clearances, but we did a much better job in the last three minutes there to kill it in the corner, to sub, to make sure we just ran the clock as much as possible."
