Teens Help Each Other Pay For Cancer Treatment

Posted: Updated:

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Two teens who met while undergoing cancer treatment in Florida are doing more than providing emotional support for each other - they're also helping each other financially.

Eighteen-year-old Ashley Krueger and 13-year-old Tony Colton met while undergoing cancer treatment at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. They were re-diagnosed recently.

Colton has a rare form of cancer called clear cell sarcoma in his kidney, while Krueger beat Ewing's sarcoma and now has T-cell lymphoma.

Even though both families have health insurance, cancer has battered both families financially. To help pay for mortgage payments, gas and other costly medical needs, the teens set up accounts on www.giveforward.com, a website that helps raise money for a medical crisis.

Tony raised $25,000 for Ashley last year. Ashley has recently raised about $3,600 for Tony.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Many part of the West are dealing with drought. But nowhere else has more state and federal land been closed to recreation than in Arizona ahead of the Memorial Day holiday. With little snowpack and precipitation, conditions are ripe for massive wildfires.    The partial closures in a handful of Arizona's national forests represent a small percentage of the land overall. But they're putting a damper on camping, hiking, fishing and mountain bi...
