NBCRightNow.com - A special honor Wednesday for a Pasco native who was paralyzed by a gunshot nearly 40 years ago.

Re'gena Bell-Roberts appeared Wednesday morning on The Steve Harvey Show on NBC Right Now where the talk show host honored her as a Mother's Day "Harvey's Hero."

Bell-Roberts battled back from her injuries and eventually regained the use of her hands and arms. She raised her three triplets from her wheelchair, and also became an advocate for the disabled.

"Driven to do this because I was responsible for my children, and I was gonna be the one to raise them. So, I started driving again, and started cooking and cleaning for my children like any mother would," she said.

Re'gena lived in Seattle for several years and even ran unsuccessfully for city council in the 1990's Re'gena and her family now live in a suburb of Los Angeles.
