WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Dozens of balloons will fill the Walla Walla
skies this weekend during the 39th Annual Walla Walla Balloon Stampede.
This year's theme is "Fly Me to the Moon."
stampede will feature 42 balloons from as far as Texas. There is also a
festival which will host live music, a night glow event and more.
One pilot told NBC Right Now that ballooning can be addictive, especially for someone who has never flown before.
don't realize how calm it is when you get up in the air and they don't
realize how much control we have and the exciting part of it is watching
brand new fliers for the first time," said John Kent, the pilot of the
Mistic Valley balloon.
Daily launches are scheduled daily, starting at 6:30 a.m.
The Stampede is May 10th-12th at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds.
