Man Killed In Firefight With Police Identified

Posted: Updated:

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - State officials have released more details about a 29-year-old man killed by law-enforcement officers in Great Falls, saying he fired on officers through a closed door and again while trying to flee.

The state Department of Justice on Thursday identified the man as Thomas Edward Pulst. The state agency is leading the investigation.

Agency spokesman John Barnes says federal, state and local officers were attempting to serve Pulst with a felony warrant Wednesday.

He says officers entered the home after telling four other occupants to leave.

Barnes says Pulst fired toward officers from a closed room. He then fled with two handguns out a back door, where two officers were guarding escape routes.

He fired again, and the officers returned fire and killed him.

Barnes says no officers were wounded.
