Benton City Mom Pleads Guilty in Death of Baby Girl

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A Benton City mother will spend some time behind bars after pleading guilty in the death of her one-year-old daughter.

Wendi Finkbeiner-Setzer pleaded guilty Thursday to one charge of second degree manslaughter in Benton County Superior Court.

Prosecutors said the 39-year-old left two toddlers in a bathtub alone back in November. Her baby girl drowned that day.

"I think it went appropriately. I think it was appropriate to charge her with a crime, I think that our recommended sentence will be appropriate," said Benton County Deputy Prosecutor Terry Bloor.

The prosecutor's office recommended one year of jail time. Finkbeiner-Setzer's sentencing is scheduled for June 6.
