KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Family Fishing Pond in Kennewick's Columbia Park is now fully stocked with five truck loads of nice, big rainbow trout.
There's a fishing event for people with special needs Friday night, and then the 16th annual Kids Fishing Day is coming up on Saturday.
Organizers expect up to 1,500 kids between the ages of 5 and 14 to take part in the event.
That includes free soda, one dollar hot dogs, and each child will also take home a rod and reel.
Ken Johanning, Chairman of the Kids Outdoor Education program said, "It gives a lot of kids in the community the first chance to experience fishing, and hopefully that catches on to them. If you're down here and you can see the smiles, to me it's millions of dollars worth of smiles, and not taxed!"
Organizers say there are still a few time slots open if you want to sign your child up.
Just go to the concession stand at the fishing pond on Friday.
