Stolen SUV Found in Yakima River and too Dangerous to Retrieve

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA CO., Wash. -  Yakima County Sheriff's deputies say a stolen SUV found ditched in the Yakima River is too dangerous to retrieve.

Deputies found the partially submerged vehicle just upstream from the Wapato Diversion Dams on Tuesday.

They believe it was either driven or pushed into the river about a half mile upstream from Century Landing and floated to its current location.

Deputies say they'll try to retrieve the SUV once the river's water level drops enough and safe for rescue personnel.
